5 Tips for Choosing the Ideal Exhaust Fan for You

Don't know how to choose the ideal extractor fan for your kitchen?
We have 5 tips to help you choose . Keep your kitchen environment fresh.
Extractor fans play a fundamental role in the aesthetics and functionality of a kitchen, as in addition to filtering the air, they purify it of grease and smoke and eliminate bad smells.
Before purchasing, consider the type and design of the hood, dimensions, power, air circulation and functions.

1. TYPE OF EXHAUST FAN

There are various types of extractor hoods to meet the technical and aesthetic needs of any kitchen.
Our range includes extractor hoods, wall hoods, island hoods, ceiling hoods, corner hoods and countertop hoods.
Traditional Exhaust Fan
It is a classic that continues to offer a wide range of functions. It is installed under a kitchen unit, right above the hob.

Integrate Exhaust Fan
This extractor hood is built into the kitchen cabinet. Discreet and a good choice for small spaces.

Wall Chimney
It is a traditional but very elegant model. Whether T-shaped, pyramidal or vertical, this chimney is installed on the kitchen wall.
It is the equipment with the largest number of sizes, materials and designs.

Ceiling Chimney
This model, as its name suggests, is installed on the ceiling, immediately above the hob.
It is perfect for kitchens with large islands, as it can be controlled remotely.

Island Chimney
Suspended from the ceiling, this model is interesting for those who care about design and aesthetics.
As it is very large, it is intended for large kitchens.

Corner Chimney
This chimney is ideal for free-standing installation, without furniture, giving a modern and innovative look to the kitchen.
A great solution for kitchens with a hob located in the corner

Bench Chimney
It is installed so that it is hidden in the countertop, behind the cooking area, when not in use. At the press of a button, it rises to extract moisture, odors and grease.
It is ideal for minimalist kitchens or islands.

2. DIMENSIONS

The size of the extractor hood should be chosen according to the space available in your kitchen. If it is to be built into the unit, the extractor hood should be smaller than the unit.
To improve your experience, the extractor hood should be approximately as wide as the surface of the hob underneath.

3. POWER

During the selection process, to know the extraction capacity you need for correct ventilation in your kitchen, you must calculate the minimum and maximum extraction power.
To do this, you must make the following calculations:
  • Measure the height, width and length of the kitchen, in meters
  • Apply the following calculation to find the volume: Height x width x length = volume (m3)
  • To find out the minimum extraction power: volume x 6 = minimum m3/h
  • To know the maximum extraction power: volume x 12 = m3/h maximum

4. AIR CIRCULATION

Another point to take into account is the air renewal system.
When the kitchen has ventilation to the outside, you can opt for an extraction hood.

If the kitchen does not have a duct, or if it is far from the exit to the outside, you should choose an extractor fan that works with air recirculation.
In this case, the extractor fan renews the air through activated carbon filters. These filters clean the air of smoke and odors, returning it pleasant and fresh to the kitchen.

5. FUNCTIONS

When it comes to choosing the right range hood, consider the following features:
  • Intensive power
  • Lighting
  • Grease/carbon filters - Grease filters should be replaced after 15-100 hours, while activated carbon filters should be washed or replaced after 4 months.
  • Noise level - choose a hood with a low decibel (dB) rating
